After many of the young people voiced an interest in where their names come from, we used the internet to research the meaning of names. Keith, for instance, originates from Scotland and means wood and Fitz-Douglas means son of Douglas. Coats of arms were found with certain names, inspiring some young people (with the use of heraldic symbols) to design their own unique coats of arms |
The Grove History Project
The Grove History Project provides young people in Gravesend with the opportunity to explore and learn about their community, both in the present and the past and through this gain understanding of their unique identities.
"Understanding a bit more about the history of the place that I come from has kind of made me feel more like I belong."
